My 4th Dostoevesky since I fell in love with the Brothers Karamazov two years ago. And while most readers probably choose Crime and Punishment as Dostoyevsky’s best, I would disagree. I can’t have any sympathy toward Raskolnikov, despite his mental illness. For me he is narcissistic and megalomaniac character. Perhaps those are the results of his mental illness? Yet, Doetoevsky successfully impressed me again by creating a psychologically challenging character completed with medical analysis.

Part I of the book was amazing. It was tense, reflective and suspensful. I feel like the introspective aspect got a bit diluted further in the story, which is a shame because I was most looking forward to that. But overall it is an amazing book and a must-read classic.
