This book is about a girl who is crushing on her brother’s best friend.  It’s the pretty stereotypical will they, won’t they, however it’s fast-paced enough that it didn’t drag too much.  The characters were pretty bland to me, however I enjoyed it enough to read the second story in the series as well.

Super slow burn romance.

Most of the time I didn´t like Lincoln, I understand that he was trying to fight his feelings or at least disguise them (which he did a pretty good fucking job), but he was rude to her and treat her badly. I didn´t find believable that he actually felt something more than attraction towards Reagan.

Another thing I didn’t love was how Paxton and Arlo treated women. I don’t mind people who sleep around and have a lot of casual relationships, but they were super cocky, bad-mouthed women that had slept with them or wanted to, and had double standards about how Reagan and Poppy were supposed to approach their sexuality.

All in all it is a good book and I´m still going to read the next in the series because I need to know what happens next.

Cliffhanger

Ends on a cliffhanger. No real connection between the main characters. Not worth the read. A good author doesn’t have to end a book in a cliffhanger to get people to buy the sequel.

I have been a fan of this author for a while now and Bending the Rules is beyond one of her best books so far. I loved the push and pull between Lincoln and Raegan. Her ultimate crush. The brother’s best friend. College angst at the peak of it all. I have to say that this book was an epic escape, especially right now with the way the world is. I found that this book made me feel young again, feeling that first HUGE crush that just gave you butterflies and all the gooey feelings. I found Lincoln to be a bit of a mystery. I want to know more about him and what makes him tick! Then you have Derek in the mix and it really throws you for a loop! I have my team that I am rooting for… so you need to snag up this bad boy and decide who’s team you are on before the second book releases!

This book had me hooked from the first chapter. The writing style, the characters, the fight that they get over themselves and get together. Fair warning it ends with a cliff hanger and I had to start the next book. These characters are very relatable. There is also humor in the books that had me laughing out loud. I highly recommend

I’m blown away and speechless with this book. I’ve loved Mariah for years now and her books keep getting better and better, even though I don’t know how that’s possible! Lincoln stole my heart from the beginning and I loved his broody self! Raegan was something else. I loved her fierceness and that she fought for what she believed in. I’m diving right into Breaking the Rules because I have to know what happens next!

...it finally feels like I can breathe, like he’s breathing life into me.
