 Emotional, Intense, Sad.

Before I start my review, there are quite a few trigger warnings for this book which can be found on the blurb on Goodreads.

This book was definitely not what I expected when I started it. Some parts I found I liked, some I didn't like as much and some parts I found devastating.

Theo was my favourite character. I would definitely recommend checking out the blurb which includes trigger warnings.

This is a very short review as I feel if I said anything else it would spoil the story. It was a 3.5 star read for me. Thank you to the author for a gifted copy of the book as a prize.

This book was very real, it had real deep emotion in and dealt with difficult topics realistically. Very emotional.

I was very generously provided this book to review by the author prior to its release.
"I Would Never... But If I Did" by Maria Ann Green was much better then I expected it to be when I first started this book. Then I powered through the first few pages and I couldn't put it down. What initially triggered me about this book is that right off the bat, just a few pages in we are met with a guy willing to cheat on his girlfriend for a girl who asks him to. I really passionately dislike when I read any kind of book that glamorizes infidelity. That is most definitely a me thing and I wanted to stop reading the book at that but I wanted to give this book the benefit of the doubt.
I am honestly really glad I did. What I think really pulled me to read this book in one sitting was that it's a love triangle that really showed what love looks like versus what lust looks like. It is a book that shows growth and hardship and I absolutely loved it.
It honestly would have been a five-star read had I not been anxious for the fist 20% of the book.

What do you do when you are in love with one guy, but another one offers you the security you are craving? Well for Taryn you date them both making for an incredibly confusing love triangle with your ex, his current girlfriend and his best friend.

Taryn never wanted to trust anyone with her heart, her past scaring her into not believing in true love so when she fell and got her heart broken she vowed for it never to happen again. She's a broken character, brash and unapologetic. I couldn't relate to her, but wanted her to find her happily ever after.

On to the men in her life, Austin and Theo. I did not like Austin from the start and cringed each time he came onto the page. I could not find any redeemable qualities in him. I swooned for Theo from the very beginning. Even though I was #TeamTheo, I wanted to strangle him on a couple of occasions where I felt he was being too passive.

This story takes you from present to past, helping the reader understand the motivations behind the characters actions. Taryn, Austin and Theo have a history that leads them to where they are now.

A great read!

Do you ever have trouble finding the right words to write a proper review? Not because you didn't like the book, but because you loved it so much that you feel like no words you could ever conjure up could do the book justice? That's how I feel about I Would Never...But If I Did by Maria Ann Green, releasing TODAY!

Taryn Sams believes love doesn't exist. Nope, it's not for her. She tried it, and got her heart shattered by Austin, after he promised her he wouldn't. So she shut herself down, and built up impenetrable walls. For Austin, Taryn will always be the one who got away, despite being the one who pushed her. He wants to gain her trust back, but she's involved with her another man, who happens to be Austin's best friend. Her brokenness and baggage makes her want complicated, and she's got it. Will she let love win? Or will her bitter heart stay cold and closed forever?

This book is phenomenal. From the beautiful and real writing, to the extremely flawed, heartbreaking characters, to the raw emotions dripping in every word, I loved every moment reading this book. Not just reading. Devouring. I ate up every word. It's raw, it's real, and it's saturated in dark feelings. It's ALL. THE. FEELS. I've loved Maria's work since the very first sentence I read of Nothing But Darkness, and she continues to leave me in awe. Her newest work is no different. It may be my new favorite.
