This is an incredible story and honestly I think this series is what first introduced me to "Seelie and Unseelie" fantasy books.
This is Book two of the Warrior of the Five Realms series and like the first book, this one follows Declan and Evangeline through their lives filled with love and turmoil. Declan's love for Evie is so fierce that she is often viewed as a mere mortal with no magic that needs constant protecting. While Evie's magic was dormant for quite some time, it does come back and she wants nothing more than to prove herself to her Archmage and his follows that she is not just a mere mortal woman. She is the last of her kind, and being so causes other problems for her and Declan.
Even when reading this in Evie's point of view, you can tell that Declan loves her. Even though he does come off as a insufferable male figure. He wants nothing more than to keep her safe. Both of them were put in harms way throughout this book, and I do believe tragedy makes you stronger, that is exactly how they became a one single unit is through the constant turmoil looking to tear them apart.
There are so many things revealed in the last 25% of the book that I never would have come to that conclusion for any of it. Hollee is an incredible author whose stories spin tales so real you can picture them in your mind like a movie. She is also one of the only authors I can recall using such large and dignified words throughout her books. These words not only assist in furthering my vocabulary, but also serves the story in the refined way of speaking. I don't have an example.. but every time I came across one I would reread it almost with a sense of awe at how that single word was chosen for that sentence when it could easily been replaced by a much more simple word.
Hollee will forever be one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more of what she creates. I am recommending this series to all readers who enjoy action filled fantasy with a touch of romance.

Meh. At least a third of this book was him being an ass and them not talking about their problems like actual adults. Then the novel is just so damn slow. It’s like it’s three novels being stretched out to five.

Another really great first book followed by the second where they get together, completely change their personalities, and are no longer interesting.
