“It only takes a moment to waste the rest of your life.”
The porn industry. Not the most wholesome or safest career one could choose, BUT it comes with it’s fair share of benefits, namely the money. Many famous folks got their start in a skin flick or two. The industry leaves its mark however, and those who stay with it, after years of reflection, realize that perhaps they’ve wasted a life in search of that game and fortune.
Cassie Wright is one such actor; the most prolific actress in porn, she wants to break the all-time record for most consecutive sex acts in a gang bang. Six hundred dudes, one woman, 24 hours, and all the drugs money could ask for; what could possibly go wrong? Toss in the rumor that Cassie plans not to make it out of the film alive, and you have one hell of a story on your hands.
More than just the tale of a porn-shoot-gone-wrong, Snuff is also a commentary on the lengths people will go to maintain some veneer of youth and beauty, or short of that, at least to be remembered. Cassie wishes her legacy to be a record that stands for all-time, never to be challenged. Bacardi, an actor in the film, the so-called “anchorman” laments that his better years are behind him, and is seeking a career boost after the film comes out.
A wild ride from beginning to end, Snuff combines a heartbreaking story of loss and redemption with a hilariously funny, if equally dark, comedy, and while it’s not my favorite from Palahniuk, it is definitely still worth a read.

Pretty much what you'd expect. In fact, they could've just printed the blurb, and saved a tonne on printing costs. Lacked the punch of some of his other work (see, e.g., [b:Guts|6395833|Guts|Chuck Palahniuk|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1273235556s/6395833.jpg|6584446], [b:Invisible Monsters Remix|12813565|Invisible Monsters Remix|Chuck Palahniuk|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1318531745s/12813565.jpg|849507]) - he may have felt that, given the provocative subject matter, an extra kick was unnecessary. That aside, not as awful as all the 1-star reviews imply.
My first Pahalniuk experience - I got to page 74, a little over one third of the way through the book, before staggering boredom overpowered my preference to finish a book before making any judgments about it.

This was a good read. Very adult. I love Palahnuik's sense of humor and this didn't disappoint. The ending seemed a little abrupt and maybe even forced for me, but the story telling was worth it. Again--very adult. Not even for the mature teenager.
Perhaps this review is slightly biased because my GRANDMOTHER recommended this book to me in high school because she thought I would like it which is fucked up on so many levels. What a disgusting premise for a book and not necessarily in a bad way but I feel like a more profound story and message could have come from this premise if it were written by a woman who understood the complexities of female exploitation on that personal level. It's ambitious and disgusting (this time in a bad way) and there are scenes that will haunt me forever
