That last scene was truly horrendous. Dropped it a whole 'nother star.

This was a weird little book recommendation from TikTok.
This isn’t a book I would usually read. I think the closest thing I have read is Little America.
This book was easy to read and at time humorous. It was also at times very dark and bleak.
I enjoyed the way the story was woven together and the way the characters interacted. The characters were surprisingly developed for the length of the book.
The descriptions of the men in this book were so off-putting. There were a lot of cringey moments (though that was part of the point).
Even though all of the characters were very unlikable, I did have moments where I felt a soft spot for them. I think that the overall theme of what it means to be lonely and how we turn to sex to fill that gap was in a way a lovely theme for such a grotesque story. Like a flower blooming in a dump.

This was the point where I lost interest in Chuck's work. Childish, underdeveloped, disappointing. None of the characters were particularly memorable or engaging. A slog of pubic hair and half formed ideas with a stupid ending.
For true Palahniuk fans only. A bit disturbing and extremely visceral, it's the writing style we all know and love that makes one think on so many levels but the actual plot and subject matter are a bit troublesome. Not for the faint of heart.
Really not what i was expecting, the first 2/3 are sooo boring i do not care about the 3 mens perspectives or sheilas. The porn names as play on words of movies got so old so fast. Some of the ‘fun facts’ were interesting but felt ao out of place. The ending (like last 5 pages) redeemed it i found it so bizarre it was funny and thats more like how i expected the rest of the book to feel hence the 2 stars not 1
This is a very interesting read. It is a very explicit story about the porn industry. However explicit it is, the characterization of the protagonists is artful. The story is mainly told from three points of view, a chapter dedicated to each. It is set during a day of filming a movie for a legendary adult industry actress. Though the story takes place in one day, you get to know the most intimate details of each character, and what drives them to participate in that film.
Pretty vulgar. Not a surprise with Chuck. I read him to find the sections which reveal the truth, but they were hard to find in this one.
