a novel about a porn/snuff film, it touched on topics like rape, fetishisation and hyper-sexualisation but went nowhere with it. a lot of sex puns and old-school names for sex-related things, it was an odd novel in both a good and bad way.
it’s sexual, it’s mysterious, and it’s dark.

Formula Palahniuk -- lots of research presented to show you all those things you'd rather not think about, storyline just big and goofy enough to be unbelievable, but still somehow within the realm of suspended disbelief, just enough disturbing mixed with funny and entertaining -- and yet not a book that really sticks, more like a summer pleasure read and as easily forgotten. Still, a fun read, and certainly more stories about the porn and entertainment industry than I was looking for.

DID NOT FINISH

This book was long-winded and graphic in a way I realized Chuck tended to use as a crutch. I like the pace of his prose, but really can't get past his choice of subject.
