I feel like barely anything happened in this book. It was way too long for how little occurred.

I was a bit confused about the storylines & the way they intersected, but I was confused reading the first book too. Maybe I’m just not reading closely enough? I don’t know.

I just…..have no idea what’s going on lol.

The gray man storyline was SUPER RANDOM and there was wayyy too much of him in the story. Like what? And then, oh he suddenly has a change of heart after having instalove with Blue’s mom? Wtf was that??

I still love Gansey, ugh yes king!!!!

I’m not really feeling gripped by this series. I don’t have a sense of urgency to read the next book because I just feel like I’m not super invested in what is going on. I don’t know, I will probably try to finish the series but we will see.

After reading this book, I have come to the conclusion that I am just not a huge fan of this writing style. It's, in no way, bad. It's actually really good. But simply not my favourite.

The style has a vague-ness to it that is used to create a cryptic and mysterious setting. And it succeeds in that. But it's not explanatory enough for me. And that, and because the book's slightly slow for me sometimes, is the reason for the four stars.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's get on to the things that I liked.

First of all, the characters. I love how well developed they are. My favourite are Ronan and Gansey. Maybe Gansey even a bit more than Ronan. Though I know Ronan is somewhat of a fan favourite. I adore them both.

Blue has her moment when she can overreact a bit but I still really like her as well. Adam pisses me off. But I think something may have changed by the end so maybe I'll like him too, in the next book. Then there's The Gray man. He is such an interesting character and I loved his thought process and the way he talked. Special mention to awesome Calla.

Oh and Kavinski, who I loathe. He was weird and infuriating and I wanted to cut of his tongue and his fingers and then slowly bleed him dry.

The plot of this story was great and full of surprises. I've already said how I felt about the writing and pace. Though I would like to say that the multiple third person was done very well.

The ending was super unexpected and I'm eager to read the next one. I'm also dreading the last one because of Gansey's impending demise (Dear Miss Stiefvater, please don't kill my favourite character).

This was, overall, a great book. I liked it a lot more than the first one and if you're doubtful about reading it because you didn't like the first much as well, I assure you, this one's better.

”while i’m gone, dream me the world. something new for every night.”

okay well, i’m still slightly underwhelmed to be honest. i had fun though, and i’m definitely more excited to jump into the third book than i was for this one.
