I LOVE RONAN LYNCH.

i don’t even want to write a review i just want to keep reading this series.

some almost-spoiler-free take ways:
- homophobia was the villain all along
- I ALSO LOVE ADAM PARRISH
- who the hell is the gray man
- i did not know what was going on for 60% of this book and yet i was thrilled
- did i mention Ronan Lynch is babygirl?
- Blue is too horny to live, too sensible to die
- Gansey… honey, we’ll get back to your storyline at a later date honey
- don’t do drugs, kids!
- friendship is magic
- sometimes being Catholic is okay
- Gansey’s lapdog/Gansey’s dog
- THE MAGICIAN
- don’t google things before reading, spoiling this series is not fun at all
- Family Guy stole a line outta this book
- i ❤️ the snake boy
- Noah baby… baby boy… i’m so sorry

alright, bye. i’m going to read book three RIGHT now.

So, I absolutely love this book. Perhaps even more than the first one. Yeah, this one was way more fun.

I love Ronan's POV! He's such an interesting character, and though he's «edgy» in a way, I don't feel like it goes overboard.
I also adore the Gray Man. I love to read about him,
and I think his dynamic with Maura works well.

The only thing I have to say is that ... well, I frankly cannot stand Blue. Maybe I'm just a misogynist, but that girl and her entire family (with the exception of Maura) is just not it for me. Frankly, her entire plot could've just been removed, because so far I don't really see the relevance.

However, back to my beloved birds and Welsh Kings——
Dwi'n caru ti, Glyndŵr.🫶 I'm learning Welsh and adore the references to Anglo-Saxons and Celts here. A bit confused about why they're looking for a mediaeval old Welsh fart in Virginia, but I'll accept it.
And Chainsaw, I love her, too.
Having serious homosexual feelings for Joseph Kavinsky. I don't want to talk about it.
The nightmare corvid monsters are cool, too. 10/10

So, this book is definitely recommended! I may or may not be the only person who dislikes Blue, I dunno, but don't let her stop you from reading this.

This is intense. Way more intense than the 1st book. This is definitely when it it stops being mostly light hearted magical mystery and starts becoming full on heavy plot. This isn't my usual genre anymore so I cant quote rate it full stats but its very attention grabbing with some very very good, sweet, adorable moments.  There's also, in my opinion, quite a few creepy sinister moments to balance it out.

5 ⭐ CW: descriptions of blood, violence, gun violence, abuse, death of a parent, death

The Dream Thieves is book two in The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I recently reread The Raven Boys to prepare for this, and I think I liked book two better than book one!

This is widely known as "the Ronan book," because we finally get Ronan's perspective and learn more about our broody boy with a bird. We get to learn more about Ronan's dreams and what happened to his father. We also finally meet the third Lynch brother, Matthew.

At the same time we are learning more about Ronan (who has some major revelations BTW), we see what is going on with Adam, who has become more insufferable since his sacrifice. We see his friendship with Gansey has clearly splintered as has his relationship with Blue, who is trying not to fall in love with Gansey.

So much happens in this book! Not to mention  Kavinsky and the Gray Man. I can't even say too much about it without spoilers, and I've probably already said too much. We also get another glimpse of how many women live at 300 Fox Way. In typical Steifvater fashion, we end on a cliffhanger.

So excited to get to the rest of the series!

I’m a little speechless right now. Wow. The second part was as good as the first one. The content is downright fascinating, especially the end. I think it’s great that Ronan had more chapters in this book and we finally learned something about him. Maggie Stiefvater manages to impress me every time with her books.

I am obsessed with how the author writes. Love the concept and execution. Incredible subtle references to Ronan's secret(s). I adore how the author subtly foreshadows things and yet also surprises me constantly.
