This book was a lovely memoir of Nina Totenberg and the wonderful friendships that she has forged throughout her life. I would say, though, that the title is a bit of a misnomer - while RBG is one of her dear friends, it is not solely about their friendship. I would say that the subtitle should be the main title. Or perhaps, Nina Totenberg on the Power of Friendships.

Other readers are complaining that the title is misleading. I'm guessing it was chosen by the publisher to capitalize on the popularity of RBG. It's actually more interesting than "Dinners with" suggests.

Graphic: Cancer, Sexism, Sexual harassment
Moderate: Death
Minor: Injury/Injury detail
A great memoir, but one that I think is weakened by trying to force connections at each juncture with Ruth. I would’ve read a Nina Totenberg memoir regardless - her life is so interesting and she has been at the center of some of the best judicial reporting/ journalism full stop of the last 40 years. I did appreciate glimpses of RBG from the perspective of a close friend who knew her just as Ruth before she was Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

More focused on Totenberg's life than I was expecting but nicely sprinkled in stories about her friendship with Ruth and their shared experiences as women at the top of their field when there were barely any women in the field at all.
