This is my favorite romance novel I have ever read! Abby Jimenez writes like no other and I can’t believe this is my first book I am reading by her!

WOW! This book takes you on a journey with so many amazing characters and plot points. Every character in this book was so well-written, even the side characters, which I know is hard to find. Maddie is the perfect best friend character and I don’t think any best friend in a book will ever match up to her. Truly she reminds me so much of my best friend because she would go to the ends of the earth for the people she loves.

A lot of this book felt like Women’s Fiction, which is why I think I loved it so much. Being in Emma’s head was so interesting because she works through things in a way that feels really relatable and honest. Normally I hate dual POV, but I really enjoyed being in Justin’s head also. He was such a complex male MC, which I don’t see a lot in romance novels. These MCs were so fun to read and I loved their love story. The love they have is the love that you hope everyone you love has.

The whole time I was reading this book I didn’t want to put it down and I especially did not want it to end. I can definitely see myself coming back to reading this every summer because it was that good!!!

There was a lot to like about this book:  fun premise, great writing, and a wonderful golden retriever type book boyfriend. I think Justin is my favorite MMC from this author.

However, this story tackles some really heavy topics such as abandonment, child neglect, abuse, and mental illness, and overall left me feeling a bit down. I also felt like the author went really hard during the 3rd act, but then tied everything up too easily? Almost like using short term therapy as a magic wand?

Overall, this is a great story that I would recommend with some content warnings ⚠️ but probably would not read again.

I really enjoyed this book though the pace of the ending felt a bit rapid. I think Justin was overly perfect and idealized. I felt like the ending was sweet. I feel all of these things at the same time!!

One of the best stories I've read in a long time. Every character felt fully developed and purposeful. Be ready to shed some tears though - especially if you have abandonment triggers or parent issues. If you do have either of those though, I almost encourage you even more to read this book all the way through; there's healing found in its pages.

I LOVED this book! And no stupid miscommunication - proof it’s possible. Emma’s growth through the book was so beautiful and freaking Justin is perfection. I laughed, I cried, I got angry at Amber - just really felt like I was there in it with them.
