For a children’s book the writing was pretty good, and whilst I found the characters a little 2D, I’ll excuse that as there was a lot to jam in the 200 page book.

My main issue with the book is the amount of rudeness and bullying which was passed off as being for the characters “own good”. Like, I get that they were they were supposed to be very conceited, but even Catherine, who was very nice, was treated rather rudely. I just wish that this behaviour wasn’t condoned anywhere near to the extent it was. Also, the amount of girl trouble within the book and petty arguments they had, I began to find irritating very quickly.

I liked the play, a very creative idea. I also quite liked Darrel as well, and very happy for her new found writing skills.

This is the first book in the series I read, however, I personally didn’t find it inhibited the reading experience too much, as there wasn’t any specific references to previous books other than a few times with Gwen’s character. And I certainly found it to be a children’s book, I’d suggest for children of around 8-12.

Another year gone by at Malory towers - and how they go by quickly, they are but years to us avid readers. The characters have so developed from the first book and yet, till now, I had not realised. Although I look forward to reading about their last year, I also dread the last page, for I know I wish I could carry on reading far beyond it. Here we go - on to last term at Malory towers! As always, thankyou once more Enid Blyton! What a way to spend new years day - I could not think of a better one. Happy new year 2014 every one! 2013 was utterly breath taking and I do believe I have lived the most in the past year out of my entire life. I cannot wait for another brilliant year full of memories - my own real life Malory Towers.
