I immensely enjoyed Leigh Bardugo's writing style in this one and was amazed by the character development. it took me a while to really get into this book (~100 pages) but afterward, it was hard to put it down.

 took me longer than 100 pages to fully get into it but after that point i was locked in! it’s not my favourite leigh bardugo (i.e. it’s no ninth house) but it has the typical lb charm. the prose is lovely (though the dialogue borders on corny at times) and so are the women. however, the romance is oddly developed, and i strongly feel that santangel was underutilised. i’m also torn on the ending (iykyk) and i wouldn’t have minded if the finale had gone the other way (iykyk)!

This was… odd. It just kind of felt like a mess? The pacing was super choppy, the characters were flat, the romance was extremely underdeveloped, and overall I couldn’t bring myself to get invested in anything that was going on. The more I think about it, the less I like it; I guess I’ll see how I feel after sitting on this for a while longer.

I will be keeping my copy though because the cover is gorgeous lol
