A wonderful juxtaposition of the “old” and New Woman which emerged in the Victorian era. Steveson’s wife, Fanny, may have been an inspiration for the themes explored through Hyde and Jekyll. Characterizations such as “white and comely” for Jekyll to the “dark hairy” for Hyde speaks volumes to the scare that was associated with the new woman.

ok. Hear me out: I breath and love horror books -as everyone knows- but tbh i didn't really felt connected to the story. I loved the writing, i loved the idea, i love grey characters but the turth is that i read it really just because every horror author HAS to read this book. And i do get it why Donna & Stephen recommend this story, however, it's not something that completly changed my brain or way of thinking.

I do recommend if you like horror tho!!!

A brief novel--novella?--that has inspired generations of horror fans. A dark read that made me reflect upon my own nature.
