Translated fiction does suffer a lot due to the loss of prose value, but this continues to be a beautiful, fun read overall. Do I think it's like the peak of literature? No, but I do think it puts you in a setting, makes you think, and creates and substantiates important philosophies on life.

A good pallet cleanser book.

such a cozy lil book that i’ve enjoyed listening to during my long rides from 12 hr shifts.
I particularly loved the first part of the book, which is no surprise since that’s where the coziest setting is concentrated at. I felt transported into the Morisaki bookshop and lovely streets and cafes in tokyo.
Flew thru the first half of the book in about an hour then I struggled picking it up afterwards since I kind of lost interest already when Takako was starting a new era of her life.
Overall, such a cozy warm book that almost made it to 4 stars, just not quite yet.
