This is a cozy mystery read set in my favorite place – Scotland, and I enjoyed [b:White Nights|3093685|White Nights (Shetland Island, #2)|Ann Cleeves|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1442892865l/3093685._SY75_.jpg|3124809] more than the first in the series, [b:Raven Black|644655|Raven Black (Shetland Island, #1)|Ann Cleeves|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1437937604l/644655._SY75_.jpg|2327400].

[a:Ann Cleeves|56067|Ann Cleeves|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1262915904p2/56067.jpg] is great at setting a scene, you come for the murders but stay for the back drop and the characters.

Reading through this series in order - but it does not require that. Going to happily continue delving more into Cleeves writing!

dark mysterious fast-paced

This story in the Shetland series wasn't adapted for TV, so I didn't know the outcome or storyline. However, about halfway through, I had an incling who the killer was, although I didn't know why yet.

I enjoyed the story, but it was a bit slower than Raven Black, and I didn't find it engaging.

It's still a solid read, though and I enjoyed being back with the Shetlanders.

I liked it, but as much as #1. It seemed a little disjointed.

I enjoyed the first in the Shetland series and started this with anticipation. The best I can say is that it meanders. Is logged through to the end but I found nothing that really caught my interest. It kept me busy but not especially entertained.
