my eyeballs are leaking. this book deserves all the hype!! i loved the romance and the characters, the setting was so rich.

4.5*
I picked up this book expecting a romance novel, but boy was I wrong. Even thought there was a love story in the mix, what this book really was is a story about family, finding yourself, loss, grief and even a little bit of brujería. Yet ultimately this book reads as a love letter to Cuba and the bluest water in the world.

Unfortunately this just wasn't the books for me. I had way too high expectations for it and it just did not deliver. For some reason I had it in my head that this would be a mermaid filled book with lots of cute angsty YA romance, however the only magical element was bruxaria and the romance failed to convince me. I am sure I would have appreciated this way more had I not heard so much hype about it.

Each decision we make is going to (re)shape our life in some way(s).

3.5/5 . It was a sweet summery read that i recommend. I loved the atmosphere that was created. My favorite part was the last ten or so chapters which were emotional and brought a lot to the book.

I also really loved the narrator who made the expérience even more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book, the narrative, the characters and the plot, but I think it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was soft and lovely at times, but then I couldn’t click completely with the writing and that probably didn’t help me much.
