Fiancée for Hire by Tawna Fenske

I enjoyed this even more than the first book. While the characters are introduced in Marine for Hire - you don’t have to read that to fully enjoy this one. There are some minor references though - so you’ll want to read the series in order.

Kelli & Mac are such strong personalities and their banter is hilarious. A fun romantic comedy with a splash of mystery/suspense/action. Both Mac & Kelli have heavy emotional barriers preventing them from wanting anything long term - but knowing the other feels the same way they dive right in to a purely physical relationship and fake fiancé ruse.

It’s a trope and they’re obviously going to fall but it’s enjoyable watching it happen. Fenske obviously has a lot of fun with the Veterinary technical aspects and I found myself laughing out loud more than once.

I’m looking forward to Grant’s story, Best Man For Hire.

MY FAVORITE TAWNA FENSKE BOOK EVER!

We all have a book by an author that we just like. I thought my favorite Fenske book was Marine for Hire. I was wrong. FIANCE FOR HIRE takes that prize.

A follow up to Marine for Hire, we meet back up with Kelli and Mac. Kelli is Sheri's best friend--known more for her ability to man handle a 160lb dog than her decorum. Her spunk and wacky way of wording EVERYTHING, Kelli is definitely NOT sweet, subtle, or subdued. Basically, she's nothing that Mac asked for. But is she what he ultimately needs?

Mac is a super secretive government agent. No one really knows who he is or what he does. And he's just fine with that. Because the more distance he keeps between himself and those he cares about, the easier it is to keep them safe. With enough distance, he can see all the danger that could come up on them. If he'd only know that when he was younger.....

Mac hires Kelli to be his pretend fiance in order to secure an arms deal. Kelli agrees because the location would allow her to fulfill a dream she has of opening a Spay & Neuter Clinic. The deal is to be so convincing, that the arms dealer and his wife believe Mac & Kelli are MADLY in love. But what happens if they play the roles too well? Can real feelings develop? Or once the deal is done, will they walk away? Can Mac keep the charade up and keep Kelli safe at the same time? Or will everything hang on one crazy decision?

I am surprise to like this book more than I expected. It is funny, witty and light romance reading. I especially Kellie. Usually it is the hero who is allergic to commitment. But in this book, it is actually the hero and the heroine stay away from commitment. And it is very refreshing. Plus Kellie is quirky, witty and sassy.

Kellie agrees to play fake fiancee to Mac. Mac is undercover bringing down terrorist. There is that insta lust at the beginning of the book. The characters chemistry can be explored more. But the rest of this book, story/ plot, characters banter are very entertaining.

Overall I do enjoy this book very much.

Sexy as hell and somehow captured my whole heart with its adorableness and it’s sexiness!

“Maybe we can take our broken pieces and make something whole” - how very real and beautiful and urg. Can I have a Mack of my own please?

I honestly don’t have much else to say about it, this is exactly what I went in expecting and I got it. Happy days and well...happy endings (in every sense of the words).

This book started out with a bit of a WTF! moment for me with Kelli in the vet's office. She is definitely one of the most unique and bold female characters I've read about. You'll see exactly what I mean within the first couple pages. She is smart, won't take crap from anyone, and gets what she wants any way possible. Mac on the other hand is about as up tight as they come. At first he comes off as your standard military/mercenary type. Always thinking about the mission and always in control of everything around him. Both our characters have a past that plays a HUGE part in their personalities and decision-making process so far. These elements are used brilliantly to help push them beyond their barriers and really grow.

Their agreement to go undercover as a married couple causes all kinds of problems right off the bat. Mac doesn't seem to have a clue what married people really do, and Kelli has some serious ulterior motives for finding things out. There is a bit of suspense - we are dealing with arms dealing terrorists here - but it's not quite enough to really call the story a romantic suspense. Kelli and Mac's histories keep coming out more and more as the story progresses - sometimes in the absolutely crazies ways. It was one of the reasons I loved this book so much.

This book really was difficult to put down. I loved how the humor just seemed to come from out of nowhere and slap you (in a good, sexy way). I would stop and laugh out loud and have to go back and re-read it just to make sure I could laugh again. You should definitely give this one a try, and if all of Entangled's Lovestruck's are like this, I may be buying a lot more books - just don't tell my family.

I read, and loved, Marine for Hire a while back but did not realize there was another book until this week. I would have to say this was as good, if not better. Of course there were some ridiculously hot and sexy scene in this one as well and I found myself cracking up at some scenes.

Read this as a standalone. It's a little predictable but still enjoyable.

I liked this one better than the first one.

Mac works for the government and for his latest assignment he needs a fake fiancee. His sister Sheri is still mad at him for giving her a Marine as a manny and so she suggests her best friend Kelli.

Kelli has had a crush on Mac since she was 10 but he's never even noticed her - and she is nothing like the quiet, demure woman Mac wants. She's a veterinarian with a sassy mouth.

There was a serious amount of detail about castrating cats and dogs in this book - sounds more complicated than I thought!

Mac and Kelli both have commitment issues but for different reasons.

There's a plot involving terrorists and weapons and a lizard's penis (don't ask).

Off to find the next book ...
