Interesting and little known stories from history. Some are really wild, some are horrifying. Listened to on audio.

Things I learned by reading this book:
- Hitler had really bad gas...and so he farted...a lot.
- When the ship goes down, drink yourself a bottle of whisky.
- Bring herbs/spices aboard on vaca, lest you need to cannibalize some folks.
- Geishas be cray.
But for real, this book was short and full of fun (mostly morbid) facts and stories. It lacked the humor that it promised, I think, but it was still quite good/entertaining. I'll be reading the next installment whenever that happens.

I call this a filler-book, one of those infotainment readings to use when my brain feels exhausted from... life, people and everything.
It's interesting and funny. In previous review someone called it an "airport book" and I agree.

I have enjoyed Giles Milton's work before and was looking forward to learning new things.
Now truth be told I am a student of history, world history to be precise, and there wasn't much in this book that I had not heard of before and sometimes in greater detail. So if you are a student of history this will not tell you things that you don't already know.
If you did not pay attention in history class, then this might come as news to you so go ahead and get this.
Regardless, it was well written and even witty at times.
It was a fast and entertaining read even if wasn't new to me

Not all of this history was unknown to me, and that was exclusively due to me watching excessive amounts of media produced by Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej
Moderate: Cannibalism

Fascinating!
Don't let the title guide you in your decision to read his book. Only the first chapter is about Hitler, and he really did take cocaine. Who knew?
There are lots of other fascinating stories that leave you thinking "huh...imagine that". Short and sweet, very interesting, highly recommended.
