I will review when I reread this one, but my advice today is to buy it. My next read will be audio only.

Fascinating set up for this series and once it starts, this book does stop.

Cool story and insteresting setting- 1950s meets western now add some magic. The lore is fun and not too convoluted. It's weakest points are definitely telling not showing, this goes for relationships between character and full on conversations. Actuall one of the craziest last chapters I have ever read if only for the passing and the amount of stuff that happens in it. Will probably read the second one.

What a great book! Charlaine Harris has once again proven to be one of my favorite authors.

An Easy Death delivers a quite unique story about a 19-year-old gunslinger (yes, you read that right) called Lizbeth Rose, and oh-man, if she isn't a total badass.
As we see Gunnie Rose travel through what was once the USA and Mexico in order to protect the lives of two grigoris - Russian magicians, to oversimplify - and look for a man who is very likely her uncle, a brother to a father who bespelled her mother and raped her.

As I've mentioned, this is quite a unique book, I've never read anything like it, and I definitely want more, however it seems the reviews on An Easy Death are mixed, I believe one of the main reasons behind this discrepancy is the fact that Lizbeth, despite being a total badass, was a hard main character to relate to, and most readers like to find a bit of themselves in book characters. Moreover, most of the time, Lizbeth seemed almost unhuman, for her cold-blooded actions and decisions, it was indeed hard to invision her as a 19-year-old young adult, much less a human being.

This being said, I do hope to read more of this world, there is still much to be learned, and also, for completely girly reasons, Eli is super cute and hunky and he might be my newest book-crush.

An intriguing premise, I wanted to try another of Charlaine Harris books after Midnight Texas. It.was an easy read but I was not gripped.
I remember absolutely inhaling the SS books but since reading Midnight Crossroads and this Easy death I'm starting to wonder whether it was because I was young. Recently I have found her other books quite amateurish and lacking in real depth. I would have liked to know more about the reasons America had split and how. I don't feel I got to know Gunnie Rose much beyond the surface. I had no feelings one way or another about the characters and the story became quite repetitive. Crossing the desert, trying not to be shot, shooting those who got in the way. It was quick paced and quick to read but it didn't overly excite me. I think this will be the last of her books I will read now.
