Jälleen yksi, laadukas Ruth Galloway-mysteeri. Rakastin sitä, että Cathbadia oli tässä kirjassa enemmän, koska Cathbadin suhde sekä Ruthiin että Kateen on niin kovin mutkaton.

Disconnected thoughts about this book:

1. The audiobook reader was good until she did this horrible, screeching high-pitched voice for a toddler character. And then kept doing it at random intervals like jump scares.

2. The King Arthur mythology was interesting! Turning it into white supremacy was also interesting! I think!

3. The author is obsessed with making anti-fat jokes & commenting on people's weight, in the style of Bridget Jones commentary that wasn't even funny then.

4. A major character almost dies by falling off a roller coaster. AS IF I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SCARY SCENARIOS GOING THROUGH MY HEAD.

6. The author repeats an exact plot arc from previous books with different characters. It's so similar that it's weird an editor let it happen?

7. I will continue to read this series even though I feel mad about it half the time.

I love this series - they’re really best read in order as the development of the recurring characters and their intertwined lives is just as good a read as the mysteries that take place. I think this was actually my favourite so far.

Loses half a point for the irritating Bridget Jones-esque fatphobia, which is probably accurate but feels very 00s and also just a bit unecessary.
