This is the sort of writing I would expect from maybe a first book that an author writes? If it’s anything more than that then I’m really surprised. There was just so much wrong that I can’t put everything but I’ll do some.
  • Such bad editing. So many typos it’s ridiculous.
  • He calls her “Little One” as a pet name.
  • Her character is just all over the place. Most of the time she is just needing to be saved or looked after but she clearly thinks she’s tough, and sometimes she can fight?
  • Spicy scenes were so bad in my opinion.
  • He was quite a red flag at times (possessive/obsessive not in a cute way).
  • The ending was so weird. Very, very predictable but her reaction is odd. Also the final words being “The end… for now” - AWFUL. Seriously how is this book so popular.
  • Very fast ‘relationship’ progression (cringe)

I spent half the time cringing at the writing and the other half cringing at the characters and their actions. By the way I usually give quite high ratings so being this critical really says something. If I was reading it for free on KU (no idea if it’s on there but if it’s not free I wouldn’t suggest paying) I would have DNFd after a few chapters but since I bought the paperback I forced myself to finish it.

Definitely won’t be continuing the series.

DNF
Could NOT get through this. It started off so damn strong, too. Disappointing.

Update: Someone take my phone away from me for at least an hour after finishing a book. If I keep rating every book immediately after I finish it (if I don’t DNF it), I will rate it a 5 because vibes I guess.
Even if I don’t REMEMBER IT 30 MINUTES LATER

4 ⭐️ in my heart immediately after finishing. Realistically, 3 ⭐️.

I will admit, I think most people won’t love this book like I did. This book was JUST what I wanted right now. And in case anyone was wondering, I rate purely based on emotions 99.9% of the time.

The first chapter had me thinking I would not like this book. The world building that was thrown out immediately was a lot to handle. After the first chapter, my interest grew and I got more attached to the main character, Estella.

The story generally kept me hooked (like most fantasy romances do) and the romance was good. The end was a little abrupt but that’s why there’s a book 2, right?
I will say, I saw the ending coming pretty early on. It didn’t really keep me guessing.

I will def continue the series and look into more by this author!

There was a lot of world building and set up in this book, with our FMC learning along with us as we try and work out what happened between Gods, fae, witches and humans. Because there was a lot of set up it did drag a little, but I enjoyed it enough to listen to the next book and hopefully have the plot pick up now that we know who everyone is.

Ok, the big reveal wasn’t really all that surprising. But it’s popular because we love it. Not really left on a cliffhanger but definitely makes you want to jump into the next book to see where this is all going.

CN for sexual harassment and death of a parent (off page and in the past)

Genre: Romance/Fantasy FM
Format: Audio
POV: Single (FMC)
Tropes: fated mates, who are you? Who am I? Marked by the fae, on the run from ignorant humans who try to kill anything slightly different, there’s something in the water… and it seems to make people want to do the sex.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ /5
Age suggestion: 18+

Insta love- it was super forced; the Fmc/mmc relationship felt like sexual harassment; the premise of the men essentially owning women like before the great wars. Would I like to finish it some day? Maybe yes
