I picked this up expecting a lot more similarities to ACOTAR than there was😂 sure, there are the same courts with the added shadow court, and fae and a veil between humans and fae, but this told a very different story.
Do I like the main character? Not sure just yet. As someone with little tolerance to disrespect and lies, I wouldn’t be great friends with her irl.
The love interest? Meh. I didn’t care for his possession or dirty talk.
But the world is pretty cool and I’m intrigued to see where the story goes next
I would say the “graphic sexual content” is quite moderate, and the only graphic warning would be the damn gaslighting

Gross, abuse in Estrella's childhood is repeated by Caelum, who gives nonce vibes, calling her "little one", feeding her, treating her like a child. He pushes her boundaries, consent is shakey and not able be be withdrawn.
Her fierce independence and hate of life being controlled by men all disappears when she becomes involved with him.
Plot was slow and the reveal was obvious.
This book made me very angry but I will be reading the second.
Do not recommend.

This book was difficult for me to finish, I'm not gonna lie. It started out mostly decent and ended up being overly sexual. The relationship didn't contribute anything to the plot and a lot of the story went missing because of these parts. (Also, very disfunctional relationship. I would've broken this guys' nose and run like hell at any point during this book.) I kept wondering if people really talk like that and wishing that I hadn't read certain parts. A lot of pages, I just skipped.

The male MC kept calling his love interest  Little One, which is kind of disturbing as that is something you call your child. In the last few chapters I heard way too many variations of the sentiment "I will not be owned by a man" to a point where I thought the character might have been overly-obsessed. Through some parts of the book, when they made references to drinking blood, they lost me. Overall the trigger warnings didn't lie.

There were a few good quotes and a few good moments of solid humor or cameraderie. Maybe this book just wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean you won't love it. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
.
⚡️Trigger warnings (as listed in the book):

•Religious purity culture
•Verbal and physical abuse
•References to grooming behaviour & assault of a minor by an authority figure
•Ritualistic sacrifice
•Suicidal thoughts & ideation
•Graphic violence
•Graphic sexual content

Well, this is difficult. All I can say is that I did not enjoy this book at all. Someone recommended this to me to read after TWOTQ and I was utterly disappointed. A lot of parts grossed me out, could see the plot twist from a mile away and for me, it felt like insta love, which I don’t like. At least for the male MC when he was introduced 100 pages into the book 😂. I will not continue this series. I guess, if you liked to read a smutty book, ok, but if you‘re here for the fantasy, it would be a no from me.
