Just finished this book and feel so glad I read it. I felt like the last couple of chapters were a bit rushed and there was small twists that I thought I predicted but didn’t! It was funny and I almost cried in some parts whether that be sadness or laughter!
Although I am not a sporting widow I still really enjoyed it and would defo recommend to others.
Thank you Anna for my first book of 2021 and I can’t wait to read more of your things!

The Good Girlfriend's Guide to Getting Even is the latest chick-lit novel by Anna Bell and is immensely enjoyable. The story follows Lexi Hunter, a sporting widow who decides that she needs to get revenge on her long-time boyfriend Will for lying about why he couldn't go to her best friend's wedding with her, all so he could attend a football match. Then, as part of a writing assignment, she turns her revenge into a blog.
What I Liked
-Cara
-The humour
-The writers group scenes
-The tiny reference to Penny from her trilogy
-The cover is really pretty
-The proposals
-Josie and Richard
What I Didn't Like
-Lying being used as a main plot once again in a chick-lit novel.
-Robin
-Sort of not sure about Will's reason to lie still.
Overall it was a good and funny book but I expect no less from Anna Bell. A Good Girlfriend's Guide To Getting Even might not have been her best book but if you're looking for a quick and easy read or you want to read about a couple going through a rut then this is the book for you.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Anna Bell is very quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Her books are lighthearted and so easy to read. The main character Lexi finds out her long term boyfriend has told a whopper of a lie and he’s about to be in big trouble.
This book is pure entertainment on every page and caused many laugh out loud moments. For me, this book was not at all predictable and the twists kept me hooked. This is a book that I would love to see turned into a movie.

Sweet and gentle read. Liked the different take on romance plot arc. Also loved the ending. Interesting sports angle. Not a standout for me, but a good read nonetheless.
Lexi and will have been dating for seven years and although they live together and have a joint mortgage, that's as close as they have gotten to commitment. Life has been kind of stale in the romance stakes, with Lexi somewhat of a sporting widow. Life planned around what sporting event is taking place that week etc.
When Will fakes food poisoning to miss one of Lexi's best friends wedding she finds out via a text message from a work colleague who spots him on Sky Sports! She is mad, really mad! Instead of having it out with him she opts for a little dose of revenge. Although things don't quite go to plan.
An easy read but not one that your desperate to see what happens next.

I don’t really have much to say about this book; it was your easy read romance / comedy book with a believable everyday story line and the plot twist wasn’t gigantic.
I feel like Lexi and Will’s relationship is relatable to a lot of people’s long-term relationships whether or not their partner is sporting fan and you could understand why Lexi felt the way she did! Anna Bell’s writing also made this easy and quick to read and I didn’t feel like I was struggling to read this t any point during the book.
I wish we could have maybe seen a bit more of Lexi and Will’s relationship and more of them as people throughout the book. However I did enjoy the storyline and although for a lot of it could see where it was going there were a few twists that I didn’t see coming that made this a fun read!

One of the best books I've read. It usually takes me a while to get into a book but I was hooked on this from the start
