I put off reading this book because I was expecting difficult subject matter, something that would literally haunt me. It was not at all what I expected, and once I started, I could not put it down. Yes the subject matter was difficult, but the writing was magical. Death as narrator? Brilliant. I grew to love each character, fearing for them, dreading the inevitable. As the book came to a close, and the tears were quite literally running in rivers down my cheeks, I was astonished at how much this book made me feel. The ending was perfect. A must read.

At first I was going to rate this book a 3.5, because the almost-end wasn't being interesting to me. But this book has grown in me.
I am SOBBING right now, the end is the SADDEST thing ever, despite how at the start of the book 'the death' warns you.
I'm so sad, I loved the book. I love the representation of the death in the story, specially in the scenario it is situated. How 'she' explains what's going to happen before actually happening and warning you that things keep getting worse.
Why they made Liesel suffer so much ugh she was just a kid oml :'(
I was expecting more life story about Ilsa Hermann tho. She was such an important character and there is not much explanation about her specially in the end.
The same goes for Max. I didn't like how they don't explain much about Max's end, he deserved way better :(
IDK if I'm missing anything but yeah I obviously recommend it!
