Words That Hit Hard
3.5/5
The Book Thief is a historical fiction story set in Nazi Germany, about a girl named Liesel who steals books to deal with tough times, told by a weird narrator. I really liked the characters —their fear, bits of hope, and anger felt real and pulled me in. The redemption and focus on words’ power gave it an interesting angle on a rough period, keeping things meaningful without being too dark. But the writing was kind of odd and choppy. Still, I enjoyed it a lot for being different and heartfelt. My favorite line: “Trust me, though, the words were on their way, and when they arrived, Liesel would hold them in her hands like the clouds, and she would wring them out like the rain.”

One of the most interesting and capitvating books I have read! It handles such heavy topics with ease and from a totally new perspective/voice that I found myself not wanting to put it down.
5 stars. This is beautiful and a love a historical fiction book with an unexpected narrator. Truly a future classic.

The writing style is hard to get into at first, but once the story grabbed me, it had me completely.
Me movió mucho.
