The book was really fun to read. Almost all of the stories were light hearted but I liked the two darker mood stories "The Philomel Cottage" and "The Accident" the best ;)

Not one of Christie's best. Some very doughy plots. Amused to note she has a James Bond protagonist in one of the stories (pre-dating Fleming's creation)

It took longer for me to finish this because for me short stories collection as really easy to put down and forget after I finish like 1 story lol.
Let me start with praising the second story in this book: Philomel Cottage. It is THE best! The best. Apparently it's very popular too. The eerie atmosphere and the build up works so well. And the twist! Wow. That story is 5 stars.
But for the other stories, most of them feel old fashioned. I mean they ARE old, but they are also very short so there wasn't much of mystery there so the oldfashion-ness of them are more stand-out to me. I also find a lot of Agatha Christie's stories to be a bit hard to grasp at the beginning of them, like, in the novels I usually have to struggle at the first 1-2 chapters just to get the vision of where we are and what is the atmosphere like. In these short stories, it could take 1/3 of the story of me just figuring those stuff out, so it's not very fun.

Less racism in this collection than the last one I read, which is always welcome. I also preferred the style of stories in this collection - where chaos & confusion arose from mistakes, misunderstandings, etc. It made for a relatively fun collection that was enjoyable to read instead of a dread.

As fun as short stories can be, these were just too short to really get me invested in the mysteries. I just didn't care about what was happening in most of these.
