Fool Me Once is an emotional, second chance romance that will definitely hit you with the feels. Smith and Gemma were all consumed with each other until one decision changed their path and their futures. Now years later, Gemma is back in Smith’s life and he doesn’t want to waste the opportunity. However, he knows there’s more going on with Gemma than her or his sister will let on. Gemma was a spice of life until she wasn’t and she has some high walls built up around especially when it comes to Smith. Smith will do anything to protect Gemma even if it means be her fake boyfriend. The more time they spend together the more that past resurfaces and old feelings that never really went away come flooding back. Can Smith and Gemma find a way to forgive the past and give it a real chance or will the past be too painful and too late to rewrite? Don’t miss out on Smith and Gemma’s journey, the emotional rollercoaster is well worth the ride!
I have been patiently awaiting Smith and Gemma's story since the preview we got in Shoot Your Shot and it did not disappoint.
Smith and Gemma have both loved one another since they met and when they finally gave into their feelings in when she was 17 and he was 18, her dad convinced him he needed to allow her to live her own dreams and forced Smith to leave her.
Now 6 years later Gemma has escaped her abusive fiancé and runs to her best friend, Smith's sister. Unbeknownst to Gemma, Sailor accepted a job in another state and convinces Gemma the safest place for her is at Smith's. Smith makes it his mission to help her heal and hopefully earn a 2nd chance with her.
This story touches on DV and does go into detail on a few situations. For some this may be triggering but I do feel it helped the readers understand Gemma's experience.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am excited for the next in the series. Hannah did a great job segmenting into what the next story will be about, and I cannot wait!

She did it again! This series has been absolutely amazing and I don’t know how she does it every time! I can’t get enough of these Bay Sharks. This is book 3 and it is Smith and Gemma’s story. We saw them having a moment at the end of book 2 and we were left wondering what was going on with them. Gemma is best friends with Saylor, Smith’s sister and they were all inseparable as kids. Gemma and Smith had an incredible summer but when Smith got nervous that Gemma might give up her dreams for him, he left.
Now years later, things come crashing down around Gemma. Gemma has literally just escaped an abusive relationship and ran straight to her best friend. Unfortunately for Gemma, Saylor doesn’t stay in town long and Gemma moves in with Smith. Smith shows us his loving and supportive side while he helps Gemma start over. You can tell right away that they both still have a lot of love for each other. Gemma starts to forgive Smith when she finds out his reason for leaving. This time though, he is not willing to let her out of his life.
There were so many emotions in this story. Gemma was dealing with the fallout from her breakup and learning how to be whole again after so much time in an abusive relationship. Then there was Smith who held onto so much guilt for Gemma ending up where she did. Hannah is such a beautiful storyteller that she was able to turn this into the most beautiful love story.

Wow this book hit kinda close to home. I loved it so much; she made it very relatable, the constant reminder of “fool me once” throughout. The side characters were awesome too, I immediately ordered another of the books in the series. If you’re looking for a second chance love, definitely would recommend.

This one was sweet and hopeful. I hate what Gemma’s dad did to them and how Smith handled it. But I love a well written second chance so I’m not mad about it in the end. I really enjoyed their story though. And when she moves out and asks for space to heal, I honestly loved that. Obviously they jumped to the physical, but Gemma took a step back and communicated what she needed to do to heal. And while Smith wants to be there for her, which he still is, she was able to work on herself knowing he was there at a distance. I truly loved it. The only thing I hate about the reformed playboy trope is justifying it with they didn’t mean anything because I always loved you. I get women and men are different, but you don’t have to sleep around when you can have the one you want. Like ugh this area of them man brain kills me sometimes.
