First half is memoir..ish, second half focuses more on the cases themselves
I don't read a lot of true crime (violent crime...I do read a lot of white collar crime)....and as such this book was sobering and more than slightly horrifying..
I can only recommend if you are aware of trigger warnings (all of them) and are alright with looking at everyone around you slightly suspiciously for a while

This book was really good and really informative. I was expecting it to be more like a novel rather than a memoir but it was extremely fascinating. The author uses so many cases and personal stories to support the system he’s come up with in behavioral analysis that clearly shows how he comes to conclusions. I felt at a certain point it got a bit repetitive but still struggled to put it down. If you feel like you will be triggered by unfiltered descriptions of murder and rape, this book likely will be too much for you.
Graphic: Murder, Torture, Suicidal thoughts, Sexual violence, Blood, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , Animal cruelty, Violence, Physical abuse, Mental illness, Child abuse, Gun violence, Rape, Stalking, Sexual assault, Hate crime, Emotional abuse, and Child death

All the stuff dealing with profiling and the crimes was very interesting. Disturbing, obviously, but very interesting. On the other hand, I really didn't care for Douglas as a human being. He's smart and moved the field forward, of course, but he really comes of as having a huge ego and a bit of a douche bag.
Also hope I don't have nightmares about killers.
