Informative, but super hard to get through. The language is not very accessible.

I read this per a TikTok recommendation & a desire to read more leftist texts. For the most part, I enjoyed Lenin's analysis & found it informative; however, there were components of this book that satisfied something other than what I was looking for. I came to this book hoping to read about how imperialism comes about due to capitalist economies, & I got that to an extent with a lot of information on the development of monopolies & imperialist economies. When I first started the book, it was a little difficult for me to understand due to the copious amount of statistics in the text, & I even considered abandoning the read due to the numbers. Nevertheless, as I got about a third to a half through the book, the numbers game seemed to quell or I just began to comprehend better. When I neared the very end of the book, on the other hand, while there were not as many numbers, Lenin seemed to engage in more semantical discourse than critique of capitalism. Of course, my comprehension just may not stellar due to lack of background knowledge. My only other critique has to do with the fact that it was published in 1916 so all the information is outdated, but that was to be expected & you just have to reap what theory you can & apply it to modern numbers. All in all, it was a short worth-while read.

clairvoyant to a frightening degree, but I find it requires more reading on the subject to understand the little bits and pieces.
