in terms of romance I liked this one more than The Psycho, I am a fan of insta-love so their first time meeting had me on my knees!! the overall plot still feels a little bland to me, good but not show stopping. I feel like Colton is going to deliver what I have been looking for in this third book but this was better than the first for me. Just missing some flair so to speak

For once, we have a girl stalker ❤️
Like the others soldiers, Devon has a part of my heart.
I really like Nikki’s writing and how she intertwined the main story, the plot, the background of her characters and the spice.
Everything is well balanced.

I LOVED this story. Devon and Leah are perfect for each other. Two people that were destined from the start let me tell you. I am obsessed with these two especially since you have Leah as the stalker until he finally notices her omg. Then the spice.. it was a lot lot but what there was WOW! I’m obsessed with this series and I am looking forward to the next book.

the raven and the reaper

Devon & Leah May are a match made in gothic stalker heaven. In our usual dark romances we’ll see the guy stalking the girl in the scenario where they fall in love but this story tells it the opposite way with some background into the characters childhoods telling us why. Leah’s mother passed away when she was young, but not before making an impact on Leah’s life where she directed her to befriend a young Devon that jump started their romance unbeknownst to them all. Growing up as a preacher’s daughter, Leah was always brought up to be a certain way around others and that didn’t include talking about the voices she’s come to accept she hears. She’s followed Devon at a distance for most of their lives, fading into the background until one day when he appears at her front door. From there, everything changes after he notices her and comes to accept how he feels - but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for this gothic-esque couple.

Devon is the Reaper and it seems a soul he’s collected has come back to haunt them. Not knowing who’s out to get him, it becomes a race to figure out the mysterious danger before it reaches Leah May. I had my suspicions of who it would be and I ended up correct, but the ending is definitely something to discover for yourself. Definitely recommend seeing how this couple gets their unique HEA.

“I wanted to be death. I wanted to become that dark, silent visitor that everybody feared.” The Reaper comes for everyone but especially those who wrong him, those he loves, and the innocent. No one can out run death, no one can cheat death, many try but all fail, when face to face with our Reaper. Devon has a past that haunts his every move, it has defined his nature, and now he refuses to these evils go on with others. As a soldier of anarchy he has a bond with his brothers that can’t be destroyed and is stronger than any blood family there may be. They seek justice in an evil world and those that are strong enough to handle their demons are the ones that will stand by their sides for life. Devon doesn’t think he has the capacity for love, only destruction, but a raven comes along and shows him otherwise. Leah May the vicar’s daughter has always complied, done what was right, but suffers with insecurities and knows she is destined for more. As a promise to her mother she has always been Devon’s shadow friend, always watching out for him but at a distance. She has know for years what he is capable of yet loves him all the same. Devon never knew about Leah May until fate brought them together and now he can’t stop his thoughts staying to her. As he fights the inevitable Leah May just wants to be seen by him and when he finally lets go she is all he can see. When others want to drag him down, Devon refuses to go down without a fight and he especially refuses to lose, so he protects what is his to the end. This story was such a beautiful one full of heartache, pain, brotherhood, loving deeply, and being seen even when you didn’t feel it. Devon carried so much on his shoulders, was an amazing son and brother, loved hard even when he thought he wasn’t capable of it. He was beautifully bent never broken and with his raven by his side this Reaper will defend the innocent and his loved ones til the end.

“The reaper and the raven. One can see death, and the other deals with it. They’re a perfect pair.” “Where one exists, the other will follow. The scythe and the shadow. A dual reminder that nothing lasts forever.”

“Broken pieces from your life that made you who you are, but they’re shattered and broken for a reason. You fought to make them that way. Scars show you’ve fought a battle and won. The destruction I see is beautiful, a beautiful chaos. I’d take those fractured parts a million times over some make believe heaven that doesn’t make me feel anything.”

You know a novel is great when you pull a all nighter...

I've been following Nikki' for a while now and The Reaper is by far my favourite.

I fell iN love with the Reaper aka Devon in Nikki's other book The Psycho and I was excited to meet him!

While is a killer Devon actually has the biggest heart which he hides.
Then there's Leah May. The girl who was involve for years.

Loved this journey and love this couple!

This book, kind of like it, kind of love it. The end was not for me… I was hoping for something different and more spice at the end. But the scenes that were through the story were soo hot, we always love some praises and to be told to stay quiet for them to keep going. Love their spice and their understanding for each other. Love the background of Devon and how he was able to go let go of everything for her. Love their little chosen family.
