This was a really fun read. Obviously you go into these looking for additional insights or interesting bonus scenes, of which there are a few, and a reminder of what you loved about the film. This book delivers all of those things adeptly. Foster is extremely capable and has done a great job translating the film to the page.

Worth it for the introspection, tiny extra tidbits of information, and Poe Dameron.

The prose awakens and it is purple! Much to be desired from this but it had some interesting deviations from the film. The writing isn’t very good though but I laughed at some of the ridiculous turns of phrase and describing Chewbacca as a “big shape” the first time he appears.

I absolutely love The Force Awakens. The movie was everything I wanted, and more, so it was easy to pick up the book and add it to my collection. The style and pace were quick and appropriate to the action scenes, but stuttered a little on the emotional moments that could have been better served by further elaboration. Overall I wish there had been more to it, more fleshing out of characters and their backstory to supplement what we see on the screen, but I attribute that to the secrecy of the new trilogy's plot than any failing on part of the author. It'll tide me over until the film's release, that's for sure.

It was a pretty decent book! Loved some of the smaller scenes they added (ex. Poe waking up in the desert) that weren't in the movie. Also, some of the lines and descriptions they added made me look at some characters (looking at you Kylo Ren) in a new way! Overall there wasn't too many new scenes or tidbits though making it pretty much exactly like the movie.

The movie was amazing and beautiful and perfect, the novelization was like the opposite.

I love the Force Awakens. This does not feel like the Force Awakens. This feels like someone saw the movie, and is now trying to relay the movie to you from memory.

New pieces were added, and entire dialogue sections were changed for no reason. The magic from the movie was gone. Pretty disappointed, I’d rather just re-watch the movie.
