Thirteen boys were born at midnight as the new millennium began. Twelve of them have already been killed. However, Adam, the 13th one, has managed to escape the cult that has been trying to kill him since he was born. The cult believes that if Adam reaches his 14th birthday, he has the power to destroy the world. Lots of action and adventure, some violence. Good for fans of Alex Rider, etc.
This is a scary book for a young teen to read. Cults do exist though and this is an intense chase through London by 2 13yr olds to stop The People coming to power.
I would recommend it as something different to the dystopian fiction out. And for fans of The Cherub series.

This book is very exciting and is a good read even if I don't normally read books like this. The storyline was good and was exciting and the main characters were unusually brave for their age. There weren't many main characters and I thought that that characters were good but they could have had more depth to them. There wasn't much information on the characters themselves and the writer only used the characters to act out the events of the book.
That said I did enjoy the book and I will buy the sequel when it comes out as I thought that it was original and was well put together and the plot was well thought out.

I do like a good teen fic every now and again and I was really hopeful by reading the description of this book. Unfortunately though I was disappointed. I just found it a bit too out there and a lot of the action etc was extremely unbelievable. Simon's death was completely ignored, Adam as a 13 year old would not have been able to over power as many people as he was able to and I fail to believe that someone hoovering in Buckingham palace could simply pop a bomb under the table? It was action packed and it did keep you reading on but as you did it just got unrealistic.
Hmm... Had all the ingredients of a good story but I just feel it fell flat somewhere. A mix of reality and psychological elements which were all good but it just felt a bit meh at the end.
A fun read all about the disastrous impacts of cults, with it not being too gory, violent or weird to prove its point.
It also explores the relationship between adults and children very well, especially how often children's intelligence and interpretation of events are often disregarded by adults.
