I don't get this.

I think I'm too old to get this.

I received this book via Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me at all. It reminded me of the, imo much better, Numbers series, and although this was a quick read, it fell flat in many ways.

The plot was very fast-paced and it seems like we are so caught up in the action that there is no opportunity to get to know the characters. I therefore didn't find myself rooting for them as the story unfolded. In fact, by the end I really wasn't interested at all.

Although I know it is CLEARLY not based on a true story, I did find the entire premise somewhat...silly, and left me with a lot of "but why?" questions. I know a sequel is coming, but I won't be reading it.

Very unique, dark book. At first it appears to be a murder mystery but it very quickly falls into more of a fantasy book about cults and powers. Worth reading if you enjoy that sort of thing.

To be completely honest, I just wanted to finish this book to finish it. I do think the concept was there, but I was confused. The multiple looks into Adam's perspective vs. The People's made me confused on what was real and what wasn't. There was too much action and too fast. I didn't really get connected to a character until a new one was already introduced.

This book was so good! It's not written like anything else I have read. It's written like we, as the reader, know what is going to happen. We know what people to trust and who we can't but the main characters don't know it yet and that makes this book so good! Apparabtly there is a sequel as well so I can't wait to read more! I definitely want to know more!
