I was worried this would feel very retconned and ham fisted but it didn't. It gave a lot of wider context to the original trilogy and served as a good first cosmere heavy book (for me). Enjoyed seeing Kelsier again.
I did think Sanderson used too many italics to make a point - sometimes like 2-3 a page. Normally I wouldn't notice but it was overdone here for me at least. Fun book though.

I read this right after Mistborn Era 1. I have not read Era 2 but I can see no reason why you'd have to wait until after Bands of Mourning. In fact, I think you should read this immediately after The Hero of Ages so the plot points are fresh in your mind.
