Welcome to the last book in this 4-book saga, or rather the sequel to Book 3. I enjoyed this book, not as much as the first 3, but still I enjoyed it. Everything came back full circle, that only a fan or reader of the first 3 would appreciate. It was a solid end to this saga and I appreciate this book for what it was.
Now...
Bart is as annoying as ever. And Cathy is too, for enabling him. You’re telling me a 25 year old man who grew up with loving parents and siblings that adored him still needs to “find himself” because of his “troubled youth”? I was so done with him! And my sentiments echoed what Jory said towards the latter half of the book - it’s not enough for Bart to be nice to them one day and “screw you, sinner” the next. He literally put his FAMILYS LIVES AT STAKE at the request of an 80-year old man he just met! The sad part is, we know a lot of Barts in this world—-dissatisfied with what they have, or what they could have, because they don’t love themselves enough to believe they truly deserve the love and attention lavished on them.
The Epilogue was a little too feel goody for me, but boy did I weep for Catherine. Poor Dresden dolls. At least they broke the curse.
I’m happy that the book ended on a positive note, but I wonder if it could have ended more realistically. Family pain takes WORK to resolve. It seems like all Bart had to do was give one funeral speech, and his hate magically absolved itself and the people/ obstacles in their way absolved as well. Likely Bart and Jory in the real world would have to have family therapy and real heart to heart brotherly conversations in order to do true healing. But....it is what it is.

it sadden me from jory's accident to Chris and Cathy's death. As for Cindy she did disappoint me and no matter how hard they tried with bart he just didnt seem to get it... As for Melody she was too weak for Jory. Uncle Joel was as sick as John Amos

Hace unos meses empecé a leer esta saga aclamada por V.C Andrews. El libro 1 de la serie me perturbo en exceso pero aun así me mantuvo intrigada lo suficiente como para proseguir con la serie. Semillas del Ayer es el cuarto libro de esta saga y fue una conclusión espeluznante y perturbadora para una de las series más raras del mundo.
Flores en el Ático cuenta la historia de los hermanos Dollanganger, la cual comienza después de la inesperada muerte de su padre: tras este hecho, Corrine, madre de los protagonistas, decide dejar a sus hijos en casa de sus padres. Sin embargo, en ese lugar y por mandato de la abuela, los niños quedan condenados a permanecer ocultos en el lúgubre ático de la mansión. Semillas del Ayer sigue los eventos de los últimos 3 libros y es la conclusión de la serie.
La verdad no se que pensar del libro, por un lado se me hizo un libro espectacular que trata con temas poco hablados en la literatura y te mantiene enganchado en la historia. Por otro lado, se me hizo un libro demasiado trágico y obscuro, es un libro de más de 400 páginas y no hay ni una sola escena que no sea una tragedia. En los primeros libros esta tragedia me llamaba la atención, pero siendo honesta, ya después de 4 libros de pura tragedia ya fue suficiente para mi. El “shock” lo logro la autora desde el libro 1 y en mi opinión ya no era necesario en los siguientes libros.
Este libro no tiene mucha trama, es más un libro que habla sobre la naturaleza humana y el declive de la moral a través de sus personajes, por lo que creo que es importante mencionarlos. Los hermanos grandes, Cathy y Chris son los personajes principales de esta historia y mientras avanza la trama vamos viendo como maduran y cambian. En los últimos libros perdí mucha empatía con Cathy pero ya para este ultimo la recupere y puede apreciar que es un gran personaje. Jory es mi personaje favorito de toda la historia y lo único que le deseo es felicidad. Bart puede que sea mi personaje más odiado en toda mi vida, no tengo ni un gramo de empatía por el, y llego a ser un poco agotador ver como culpaba a todos por sus problemas en vez de hacer un poco de autorreflexión.
Ha pasado un mes desde que termine de leer el libro y todavía me cuesta expresar mis sentimientos al respecto. Es un libro muy controversial pero a la vez muy interesante. Es una muy obscura exploración sobre la naturaleza humana y aunque me mantuvo enganchada y no podía parar de leer, fue una historia demasiado trágica y desesperante como para lograr convertirse en uno de mis libros favoritos.
En conclusión, estoy feliz que ya puedo decir que concluí esta serie que es un clásico. Por nada del mundo se va a convertir en una serie favorita o van a ser libros que quiera volver a leer, pero no me arrepiento de mi experiencia lectora.
