This novel gives a great glimpse into what encompasses life in New York beyond the romanticised. Solid pacing and characters. 

A pity that Quentin's storyline felt unresolved given his complex gender and class struggles that culminated in his meth addiction - that felt undeserving.

I did find certain character descriptions off putting i.e describing accents as "clipped"
