I wish there was something on the book that said it was a continuation of another book. It was barely mentioned on the back of it but not in a way that made me realize this was a sequel of sorts.

That being said, I read it anyway because it was still easy to follow despite missing everything from the other book. It was really good and made me realize that I really need to read more crime novels told from the perspective of lawyers.

ā˜ļø THOUGHTS:
When I started this, I didnā€™t realise it was a sequel to THE GUILTY ONE and Iā€™m now intrigued as to if Iā€™ve missed anything, having not read the first book. Either way, the plot flowed and read well as a stand-alone.

Iā€™d say this was more domestic drama than thriller, as I found there to be more of a focus on the MCā€™s personal life than the mystery. The premise of the plot really appealed to me, but the lack of big twists or gasp out loud moments left me feeling disappointed and although I love a book with lots going on, THE INNOCENT ONE had so many little subplots that didnā€™t add anything to the book.

Despite this, I read this book super quickly in just over a couple of days, so although it wasnā€™t the best book Iā€™ve ever read, it was a fast and easy read.

DISCLAIMER: I was provided an advanced copy of this book in return for my honest thoughts - all opinions are my own.

This one was an ok read for me, some parts were full of tension and dreaded anticipationā€¦.however each build up then seemed to just fall flat or fade away.

Maybe I am becoming too addicted to the ā€˜twist you wonā€™t see comingā€™ā€¦..I finished feeling just a bit unsatisfied
