The strength of this book lies in its clearly articulated reasoning behind the conservative stance on all the primary issues in politics today. Since many of today's conservatives lack the education and understanding of previous generations (I include myself in this), they would benefit greatly from the solid logical arguments backed by history, philosophy, and even theology, that Mark Levin presents.

Levin presents a clear vision of the Founding Fathers' intentions when crafting the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, a vision that contrasts so starkly with the America of today that it is unsettling. Throughout the book, Levin details the instances that derailed our government off the path it was originally set on, and provides ideas for ways to get back on track.

I only gave four stars because I think one could argue that some of his examples are presented from a rather myopic perspective for the purpose of strengthening his main point of view. Also, I felt he made some cause-and-effect connections that weren't entirely able to be proven as emphatically as he insisted. And there were some emphatic statements that I couldn't 100% stand behind.

Overall, though, this book was very helpful to me personally in strengthening the foundation of my own political leanings and ideology. The historical perspective was particularly beneficial, as well as its application to the political atmosphere today.

If you're conservative you will love it; if you're liberal you will hate it - but no matter where you find yourself on the political spectrum you should read it. This book is extremely well researched with almost fifty pages of source notes. It clearly and with accuracy explains what conservatives believe and why they believe it. The book covers such issues as the economy, environmental concerns, immigration, and more. A great conversation starter.
