I enjoyed this story, Kazuo Ishiguro’s books always make me think. I like how the themes are explored but the reader isn’t moralized. Very contemplative and atmospheric. This book really hits the spot for a slow paced story with the feel of an Arthurian legend, but a modern take.
Just as a note, I have intermittent speech and found one aspect of the plot to be really uncomfortable, even though it may be historically accurate.when a character fakes being “mute” and “dumb” so I would suggest deciding whether you will be okay reading a pretty awfully ableist series of exchanges that pepper the first portion of the book. If I had been prepared, I think I would have still chosen to read it though.
