Book could have finished at the half way point, definitely didn't need the other half. Also, had to skip a lot in this becuase it went from friendly banter to strait sex so incredibly fast. I'm not interested in that

The romance between Hart and Mercy was very unconvincing and I didn't care for it, or any of the characters, at all. Not sure what they saw in each other besides attraction and I’m very confused on how they fell in love with each other, but I guess that's not difficult when you're lonely and have no friends. The letters between the two are also supposed to show each other, and readers, more of who they are and them falling in love with each other as this progresses, but the letters are generic and bland.

Many books also commonly have issues with info-dumps and heavy exposition, but this book actually does quite the opposite, wherein there is no explaining at all. This is a novel with fantasy elements, with its own world systems, and while I was able to infer with context clues what all the world specific terminology meant, the lack of explanation felt strange and made the book feel off and incomplete.

Enemies to lovers done wonderfully. I believed both characters did not like each other
but were immediately attracted to each other. I cheered when the inevitable happened and cried throughout the last quarter of the book. Sad and happy tears
The world building is extremely interesting, too, and I greatly enjoyed how the fantasy elements were introduced/explained. It felt natural. The next book in the series is on the TBR and hopefully the library doesn’t make me wait too long.

This has such a great western/fantasy setting! I loved the lore and wording building throughout. You do have to willing to just jump in and let the author explain things as you. I got confused on things a couple times but they were explained eventually. I’m excited to keep reading this series for more world building!
I love Hart and Mercy! They have such great arcs both individually and together. I felt like I got such a great picture of who they were before they got involved and that made me root for them even harder.
I hate a third act breakup and that’s is partly why my rating isn’t 5⭐️.

Once it was revealed what Hart could do as a demigod I guessed at his parentage. The end therefore felt predictable it didn’t make me like the book any less.

You've Got Mail, but make it fantasy.. You've Got Mail is my comfort movie when I'm sick or sad so I really enjoyed the romance aspect of this book.. I liked the familiarity of the anonymous letters to the one person you hate the most plot...
The fantasy side of this book is where it loses a star.. the made-up words and creatures were minimally explained, if at all.. what is an equimaris? Webbed horse, seaweed like mane? It curls its toes in the water???
If you can forgive these weird out of place details and not really knowing some of the terms (like I clearly did), then this story is actually really wonderful. If you aren't a forgiving reader, go watch You've Got Mail.

This is first and foremost a love story. It is set in an interesting fantasy world with demigods and their version of limbo and zombies and fantastical postmen. But the fantasy elements and the plot take a backseat to our two main characters meeting, interacting, and ultimately falling in love. And me falling in love with their love.

As long as you like character-driven stories, this book is an amazing ride. I saw someone else liken this to “You’ve Got Mail”, and that is so accurate.
