This book was certainly thought provoking. In turns both uplifting and saddening, while remaining terrifyingly real. The people in this book are simply waiting to die. All the action has already taken place - the war has been fought - and now there is nothing to do but keep on until the death.
It was interesting to see how the different characters approached the end of days from pragmatism to denial. It makes one wonder what you would do if you knew the world was ending.
Though there were great female characters, I really enjoyed Moria’s sense of humor, there were moments when I cringed at the sexism and remembered the timeframe of the book.

This is the most bleak book I have ever read in my life. It was recommended to me on Reddit and it is hard to top when it comes to despair. It was hard to get into the first time because of how its written but it is great when you get into it. Great character relationships and what would happen if they knew they were going to die? Great stuff.
