Phooey...wandering plot, amateurish writing, one-dimensional (yes, I said one) characterization, etc. Stopped after a chapter or so, end even then, could feel my brain turning to mush.

I really enjoyed this book, yes it’s a little cliché and some of the views are very 2000’s but it was a book that kept me hooked and wanting to know more. I liked that it proved some of my predictions wrong and made me think ‘wow, I wasn’t expecting that’. I think if you like these you’ll like the Mina and the undead books, because it really reminded me of that.

I’m interested to see what the rest of the series has in store.

I'm rereading this because I read maybe about 3 of them about 10 years ago and wondered why I never finished. Dear god the writing just isn't good. The characters are awful and how the hell is Claire this maddeningly stupid when she's meant to be smart enough to be two years ahead?!?

I didn't love the book, but the last 10 or so minutes of listening to it sucked me in... Not a book I'd necessarily recommend unless you're completely out of things to read.

Ya know, I read every one of this series that comes out. It's an easy, interesting read but every book is kind of more of the same. I keep reading them though, so that says something :)
