First let me start by saying I read this quite a while ago and forgot to post a review. This review is based on what I remember of the book. Though I did star rate it at the time of finishing.

A twisty, claustrophobic thriller.

I've become such a fan of Sten's since reading her last book, The Lost Village. So I knew I had to read this one. While I didn't love it quite as much as her last book, it was still very good.

A creepy old house, a journal full of past secrets, face blindness, murder, missing people, being snowed in with no way to Contact anyone for help.... all things you can expect from this one.

It was an interesting read, especially with the prosopagnosia (face blindness) involved. Having the MC have such a unique characteristic added so much to the story. Her grandmother was murdered, she saw the murderer, but couldn't see their face

This was my first book by Camilla Sten and I was not disappointed.
The story starts off with Eleanor walking into her grandmothers apartment only to find her murdered as the killer runs out. Eleanor has prosopagnosia (face blindness), so even though she saw the killer there is no way she can identify them if they were to cross her path again. Eleanor becomes paranoid and anxious as the days continue and it only intensifies when she finds out that her grandmother left a house to her that she had no idea existed. As she spends time in this foreign house with her boyfriend, lawyer and aunt secrets start to surface.
The beginning of this story started off a bit too slow for me. I really had to push through the beginning but once we got past that it kept me hooked. I honestly didn't know if face blindness was real (it is) but I found it to be a weak excuse for the storyline. However I loved the story as a whole and there were some twists and turns that I did not see coming and that part was done extremely well. I would definitely recommend this book!

I received a free arc copy by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Never found it interesting. I got less interested as I went along. I love slow reads, and I love character studies, so it’s not like this genre just isn’t my bag. But this book somehow got more boring as it went on. I wanted to like it so much that I kept going but by 75% I was just trying to reach the end so I could rate it fairly (in case the ending saved it…but it did not).

I liked Sten's earlier book about a town that disappeared, so I was looking forward to reading this, and I was not disappointed. This is a great gothic tale, full of mysteries and murder and dark twists. I really enjoyed it and think it will be a hit with anyone who likes the gothic, Shirley Jackson's work, Kate Mortons novels, and Scandinavian mysteries.

Second book I’ve read with a character having prosopagnosia! I find it very interesting but this one was predictable and a bit boring.

This author is a master of creating sudden creepy scenes that make you shudder. This book was a bit too slow paced for me, but still definitely worth reading.
