Ali smith is genuinely one of this centuries greatest writers. This one was one of the most heartbreaking of the quartet though I found the beginning more disjointed/hard to connect to the later bits than the others this far.

Cheesy cheese. Can’t believe it’s so highly rated, got absolutely nothing from it and thought it was badly written. I prefer Autumn.

Ali Smith Bücher sind rau und poetisch, wild und elegant. Diese Autorin ist eine Olympionikin des Schreibens! Ihre Geschichten entwickeln sich geschickt ineinander, und lassen mich nicht mehr los. Auch Frühling ist eine Zwiebelgeschichte, die mir mit jeder weiteren Schicht die Tränen in die Augen trieb. Klug-sentimentale Liebesgeschichten, pessimistische Geschichten aus den Untiefen der Menschheit, Geschichten von erschütternden Begegnungen und das alles vor poetischen Berglandschaften.
Obwohl das Buch viel Introspektion erzählt, erzählt es auch das Aufeinandertreffen von fantastischen, traurigen Figuren.
Und von der Sprache habe ich noch gar nicht geschwärmt - der Roman wimmelt von Sätzen wie diesem: „sie zitterte wie eine Saite auf einem Musikinstrument, die gegen ihren Willen gespielt wird.“
Ein Buch zum Innehalten, zum Versinken, zum Verzweifeln, zum Grübeln. Ali Smith =
