wait until he learns about the brain-gut axis.....
"Certain pieces for MP3 PLAYER by IMAGINE DRAGONS had left him literally panting, choked by a stifling lump in his throat; but above all it was SAFE AND SOUND that had lifted him up, taken him out of himself and then left him prostrated, as if after a discharge of nervous fluid, after a mystical debauch of the soul.
This music went through him, thrilled him to the marrow, releasing an infinity of forgotten sufferings and long-standing depressions into a heart astonished that it could contain so much confused misery and formless sorrow. This desolate music, crying out to the deepest depths of his being, terrified him even as it charmed him. Never, without nervous tears welling into his eyes, had he been able to repeat OWL CITY'S FIREFLIES because there was in this plaint something beyond mere heartbreak, something wrenching that tore at his entrails, something like the end of a love-affair set against a mournful landscape"

So detailed and extraneous I lost it multiple times. I understand the themes but don’t love the writing style. The main character is very unlikable, which is fitting.
Overall, great in one way, a worthy classic, but a tough sell to read again.

Okay enough to get through, but it's pretty clear while some books are classics of renown, and some - like this one - are not.
