After his father abandons the family and his mom disappears, Rick and his younger brother Kenny go to live with their Uncle Henry in an RV park next to an abandoned amusement park. The people who abducted their mother seem to be out looking for Rick and his brother. Creepy setting and interesting plot for a kids’ book.

I liked this book. The action scenes and the ending were exceptional! But the rest of the book was kind of disappointing. It was very confusing to read at first, and it was boring to read about most of what happened outside of Wonderland. Although the author had a really cool style, I just didn't like it too much. The ending, though, was one of the most suspenseful, exciting endings I've read for a while, but I think it was wasted on a book like this. While some of the book was good, some was bad too.

This time around I was watching the careful balance between agency and suspension of disbelief -- what can the kids do? Also, which kids have the most action? (Connie seems the most independent, really -- why can't he be a protagonist?)
