Playground was one of the most grotesque, gory, disturbing, twisted horror books I've ever read.
Think Saw but for kids, with even more gore and violence. The book doesn't even ease its readers into the gore, nope. The first 15% with Geraldine and her "infatuation" for her mother, left me asking myself if I have met my match in extreme horror, cause wtf was that bathroom scene.
Then of course that scene with her and Rock, so gross.
Nonetheless, I kept on reading and wasn't at all disappointed that I did. This book will not be palatable for a lot of people, but for me I liked it. The depictions of the gore were so detailed that I cringed so many times reading this book. As if that weren't enough, the author inserted some illustrations just in case you had trouble picturing it, LOL vile.
I liked the ending too; I was so happy that who I was rooting for made it out pushing up my rating to 3.5 stars.
This was my first novel by Aron Beauregard, but I don't think it will be my last, I will definitely be looking into more of his work.
Please read with caution if you dare. It's extreme horror and lives up to that in every possible way.

This book was…..interesting. I feel like this book was written more for the shock factor than an actual story. Each death was of course detailed and the child died in creative ways. How I would describe this book would be “kids on a playground but it’s a saw movie” that’s the BEST was to describe it. A certain family and one child specifically pissed me off, like what the hell was their mindset???? Then when the ended happened I was more upset like “why didn’t this happen to begin with??” You’re telling me all these children died when the ending could have happened all along???

Finally finished! And I'm crying real tears!

This book had my emotions all over the place to be Spatterpunk horror!

Went from being Grossed out to being pissed off to being pissed the heck off! To crying!

Rock deserved a better ending!!!
