Dangerous Little Secrets picks up where Dangerous Little Liars left off.
Other than my interest in seeing what transpires from the cliffhanger and finding out what sort of ridiculous will play out for the cause of her uncle’s death, I have little interest in any of the characters.
I don’t really feel as though Lacey shares as deep of a connection to Rafe and Banjo as she does Colt.
The reference to her being “Veronica Mars” in the first book is laughable since anytime she actually puts effort into the events surrounding her uncle’s death, she immediately gives up and becomes entranced by whoever’s D is in the room.
Generally when I read a why choose romance it all flows seamlessly together, giving you the feeling of them all being together is what had been written in the stars, unfortunately, I don’t get that feeling with these characters.
The steamy moments are full of awkward dirty talk, and awkward commands because neither Rafe or Banjo’s character have the confidence to pull off an alpha type tone.
I just wish I felt something more between the characters other than awkwardness, even some entertaining witty banter would be something.
Lacey’s aunt is a wishy washy mess of judgement, she goes from completely bashing the friends Lacey has made at Saint View to all of a sudden embracing them and her nieces relationship with them. It’s another element that feels forced as opposed to authentic to the character.
All in all, it’s a whole lot of awkward characters and their interactions, and more awkwardness in the steamy moments.
