Kaz is just such a cool character to read about, and the rest of the gang also provide narratives I found interesting and moving. I love how each character is uniquely strong, and yet they all share a common fragility. The last few pages felt a bit cheesy in some ways, but we had to wrap up the story somehow.

So excited to announce that my family has grown: I’ve adopted several crime children and will not tolerate any more harm coming to them, thanks very much. Clearly, I enjoyed this next Grishaverse installment. We got to learn more about these characters and their pasts, what made them who they are. Some of it was pretty fucked up tbh, but in a YA sort of way. We saw relationships build and break and build again, and we got a glimpse of what some futures might look like. I also thought the whole jurda parem storyline was really interesting throughout this duology. Overall, just really pleased with this reading experience and excited to get the books soon to add to the shelf! I’m thrilled that I didn’t have to wait between books and instead basically read this and “Six of Crows” as if they were one big novel. I was sad to finish it and leave my criminal kids behind!!
